    Care & storage

    Surface fuzz is normal

New jute develops a layer of fine fuzz. Some people singe this off; you can also brush it off with a coir brush, or just allow it to shed naturally with use. It's part of the breaking-in phase every jute rope goes through and not a defect.

    Keep it dry

Jute is a natural fibre and doesn't love being damp. If you can, we recommend airing your ropes out after use by hanging them. If your ropes do get wet you'll need to hang them under tension.

    Re-oil when it dries out

Over time and use, jute loses some of the oils and will start to feel stiff and brittle. Re-treat the ropes with a jute-suitable oil (camellia/tsubaki oil is standard, jojoba oil is also very popular). How often you'll need to treat your ropes depends on how often you use it, whether it's used on skin or clothing and also the climate.

    Great rope

I really like how the rope is treated. It feels quality and strong. But also ready to use. Good skin feel. A nice surprise was the clip on the scissors as well. Makes it easy to have on hand when tying.

Nice ropes, but too short for almost everything

All classes and tutorials I have seen require ropes 8-10m, but Anatomie insist on selling 7.5m ropes.
Maybe this is fine if you're a heteronormative couple with a x-small person being tied, but for regular body types these ropes are just too short for any tutorial I have yet to come across (and none of us are overweight).
At least the ropes should come with a big warning about the shorter-than-normal length.

    Just right

Great quality, great colour (not too vibrant, but that's what we wanted), enjoyed them a lot

Really nice + super secure packaging

The rope feels great and arrived neatly in the most secure and slick packaging I have ever seen!

Pretty sure that a mail handler tried to open it given the large and straight slit on the back but the multiple layers of mesh and inner packaging prevented any theft unless they literally tore the whole thing apart

    Thanks a lot!

    Great session

Hi, this was a really good introduction. The teachers were wonderful in explaining some of the philosophy behind shibari, the emphasis on position, care for the partner, the sensual qualities of the rope - all very positive and informative. Thank you.

    Starter kit is excellent

Purchased the starter kit with two lengths of natural jute. It is good quality rope and works well for friction ties and more. Highly recommend

It keeps coming up for me so thought I’d purchase the starter kit for shibari meditation. Very happy with my purchase and where it might lead.
